Innovative, ground-breaking, award-winning theater is right at your fingertips in downtown Trenton, where for over 25 years Passage Theatre Company has been premiering plays and presenting a broad program of theater for local writers, actors and students. At the Mill Hill Playhouse, an intimate renovated 19th century gothic revival former church in the historic Mill Hill neighborhood, Passage Theatre has produced a broad spectrum of work, specializing in developing and premiering new work by upcoming playwrights. It has debuted several plays by acclaimed playwright and Trenton native William Mastrosimone. Trenton resident and Pulizer-prize-winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa was commissioned to write his first play The Deacons, by Passage Theatre Company. Since 1995, Passage Theatre has offered programs for Trenton's youth, who are paired with professional artist-mentors in playwriting, performance, spoken-word, and technical theater classes.
