“The bronze octagon floor relief features an illustrated map of downtown Trenton framed by historical elements from the Kelsey Building. The map is illustrated with fifteen to twenty small relief images from the history and/or present day character of the City of Trenton. The decorative border framing the map contains specific architectural details form the Kelsey building of Thomas Edison State College, such as the school’s clock, the open book and the ‘Portrait of a Student.’ Between these images are designs taken from molding details from within this Townhouse/Kelsey historical building. Quotations about education, maturity and wisdom are also identified on the map. In a running pattern within the Great Hall is a series of bronze diamond shaped insets. Each inset contains a different collage featuring Thomas Edison’s inventions. The diamond shaped insets measure 24” on each side, set flush with the existing tile pattern at regular intervals.” – Thomas Edison State College
